A blog is a unique web site that consists of entries, or posts, which are usually arranged in reverse chronological order. Posts are typically a short paragraph of text that may include a link, photo, or embedded video. Many blogs allow the reader to leave a comment about a post in order to encourage online discussions where people can participate at their leisure. Below are some resources about blogging that we find serve as motivators to help us brainstorm ways to use blogs in the classroom.Good news for bloggers: http://www.eschoolnews.com/news/top-news/?i=53663;_hbguid=e0da166a-2d66-434d-9c7c-01286ec3b126Blog Basics What is a Blog? How to Blog: A Beginner's Blog Publishing Guide The Weblog ProjectUsing Blogs to promote Authentic Learning in the Classroom

A wiki on Blogging! http://il-tce2008.wikispaces.com/BloggingSuggestions (Add your ideas!)
- Read lots of blogs to get a feel for how to blog and how other educators are using blogs. You will most likely find you do not have the time to read everything every day. So...
- Use an RSS feeder to bring blogs to you! (e.g., www.bloglines.com)
- Have a student be a scribe everyday to record daily work. (expertvoices.blogspot.com) Post a comment and respond about this process on our blog.
- Blog as a certain person in history and have other students ask questions.
- Create a podcast and post that to the blog and have students comment.
- Create a challenge page for bloggers, e.g., math problem challenge
- Have students use your blog but have them bring in other information with links to these sources.
- What are your management rules? You have to make decisions on this. Perhaps it is good to get students to help establish the rules!
- Provide specific instructions as to how to do things. Check this out for an example of this portal. http://ci212-06.21classes.com
- Try labeling the blog posts if you want to keep track of how many students are posting, i.e., have students label their posts as numbers.
